Gallup: U.S. Support For Nuclear Power Climbs To New High Of 62%
American support for the use of nuclear power has inched up to 62%, establishing a new high;28% now strongly favor its use

A majority of Americans have typically favored using nuclear power to provide electricity for the United States since Gallup began polling this topic in 1994. Support has climbed in the last two years, and has nw passed 60% for the first time. In addition, 28% of Americans now say they "strongly favor" nuclear power, also the highest Gallup has measured since the topic was researched in 1994.

According to a report in The Beijing Times, the world's first generation III AP1000 reactor, the Sanmen nuclear power plant in east China's Zhejiang province, will be put into use by 2013, said Wang Binghua, chairman of the State Nuclear Power Technology Corp. (SNPTC).

The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Robin Sanders, who made the pledge in Abuja at a meeting of the Forum of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies in Africa, said that the US would render the assistance through the International Atomic Energy Agency, working with the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority and Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission

According to a report in The Jakarta Post, a panel of nuclear experts contend that nuclear electric power could benefit Indonesia in the future if handled correctly through complete understanding of regulations, team diligence and knowledge of plant equipment, operations and maintenance.
